When it comes to making Viognier, we aim for a very different style than what is typically produced in California, showcasing what can be done with the variety on the extremes of the coast. 2022 was a chaotic vintage with drought, record-breaking heat waves, and rain during harvest. But luckily for us, the close proximity of Spanish Springs to the ocean meant that the heat was dramatically moderated, leading to another great year for this perennial favorite. Sadly, yields were down, so we made far less than normal. Per usual, this wine leaps from the glass with aromas of white flowers, loads of citrus, minerals, and sea breeze, along with great acidity.
