Each year, we select one lot of fruit to make a wine that is 100% for us, for our own everyday drinking enjoyment. It's the most deliciously aromatic, vibrant, crush-able red wine we know how to make. We throw it in the fridge, chill it down, and go through bottle after bottle during backyard barbecues.
Nature Boy is based around Grenache, with a small dollop of Mourvèdre, fermented with native yeasts and done 100% whole cluster. Stylistically, we treat it like they do with great Beaujolais, which is to say we let the wine go through carbonic maceration in a sealed tank, with no oxygen whatsoever. After a few weeks, we as a team take turns foot stomping this wine every few days, but gave it minimal extraction and a cold fermentation to keep aromatics high. The result...INCREDIBLE. Low in alcohol (13.0%), but high in flavor and yumminess.
