JEB DUNNUCK 92 PTS
49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Petite Sirah, 14% Petit Verdot
Mauka, meaning “towards the mountains” in the Hawaiian language (a nod to Aaron's mother’s heritage), is a cuvée that reflects our ongoing pursuit of great Cabernet in Paso Robles. For years, we searched for sites that could deliver a more classical Cabernet profile—something with structure, lift, and nuance. That journey led us “mauka” into the Adelaida District, where we found the Old Bailey Vineyard: a rare site planted in the late 1960s at nearly 2,000 feet elevation, with gnarled old vines rooted in limestone-rich soils.
This year’s blend is vibrant and expressive, shaped by the warmth of the 2022 vintage. Cabernet Sauvignon brings red fruit, spice, and aromatic lift. Petite Sirah adds depth, dark fruit, and a juicy, textured mid-palate. A generous dose of Petit Verdot contributes blue fruit, firm tannins, and a touch of savory herb.
The result is a wine that is powerful yet bright—drinking beautifully right now, with enough backbone to age gracefully for years to come.
